What Happened to the Weekly Roundups?

Some of you – or none of you – might be wondering why those weekly roundups haven’t been popping up in your feed.

And the answer isn’t a single straightforward sentence, but a combination of a few things. So I thought I’d do an open letter post about it for you all.

Long story short: they’re on hold, indefinitely.

What’s the deal?

It’s a decision spawned initially by recent life events. I was knocked off my motorcycle by a car during the last weekend of February, which left me focussing on recuperating and I decided not to do any new writing for a week- even low effort content.

As I began to pick up writing again, I realised two things about crafting the roundup posts in particular.

Firstly, I was becoming bored. There was no challenge to putting these posts together. It was – to sum up in a single word – formulaic. I don’t want this site to become a home to repetitive, formulaic content.

Secondly, I started the roundup posts as a way of curating and dissecting my own style inspiration. Lately, I’ve not been taking in so much external inspiration. This isn’t to say people are getting boring; there are some guys out there who are doing awesome things with outfits on the daily. Rather, I’m just looking inward.

This means I’m not having a volume of content to draw from for those roundup posts, because I’m not saving stuff. And I’m not about to go and force it by taking random photos and writing things I don’t truly think. In essence, there’s only so many ways a man can say that an outfit has been constructed well.

What does this mean going forward?

What it means is that I’ll be challenging myself to branch out in to different topics. I still intend to keep aiming for 3 quality posts per week.

For starters, I decided to branch out into writing about fragrance as I think that extends to being a part of your personal style. Even though Instagram doesn’t have SmellOVision, the real world certainly does.

I’d like to do a few more reviews and interviews with people too.

Essentially, I’m keen to keep the content fresh. And I hope you’ll enjoy what comes!

See you on the next post,

Sam
