Lookbook: June 2019

A catalogue of fits from June 2019

Starting this month I plan to combine a selection of outfit shots into a monthly post. Each post will showcase some outfits from that month, including a little bit of commentary about individual pieces. I have included links to shop the garments or similar items – or at the least, place of purchase – where possible. Enjoy!

1: Expensive Taste

Jacket: Black velvet single breasted three button blazer with single rear vent, by Loro Piana.

Shirt: Chambray shirt with rope knot pattern by Tommy Hilfiger. (similar)

Pants: Grey tapered wool pants from the Hugo Boss ‘Create Your Look’ range.

Boots: Vintage ‘Craftsman’ by R.M. Williams, with plenty of appealing patina. The colour of these really sets them apart from the more common chestnut or black leather pairs. (new versions)

Pocket Square: Colourful polyester piece from the Van Heusen outlet at Harbour Town. This is usually my go-to pocket square thanks to the red, navy and yellow colour palette.

2: Weekend Vibes

Jacket: Vintage grey herringbone Harris Tweed, designed by Pierre Cardin. Single rear vent. I usually wear it unbuttoned and sans pocket square as it is actually a little small for my frame, and to button it or use a pocket square can make the issue apparent.

Shirt: Navy with vertical stripes and floral contrast underside cuffs (rolled back to show them), from Ben Sherman. This shirt has a button down collar which turns it into one of those horrible modern skinny collars so I wear it with the collar buttons unfastened.

Pants: Tan chinos from Staple Superior, bought from The Iconic.

Shoes: Chocolate brown Derby shoes branded Democrata. Found in a thrift store for $4.

Boutonniere: Grey and blue fabric flower from Knightsman Tailors.

Watch: vintage Omega De Ville manual wind.

3: Rugby Top, Meet Business Casual

Jumper: Navy/Bone rugby top from R.M. Williams. Tucked in to make it fit with the tailored pant silhouette.

Pants: Blue houndstooth from Van Heusen, with the cuffs rolled a la denim jeans trends.

Shoes: Brown wingtip Oxfords by Geoffrey Beene.

Belt: Woven leather belt from Buckle 1922, bought at Peter Webber Menswear.

4: Casual Fridays

Jacket: Modular collar brown leather racer jacket from Kenneth Cole, worn racer style.

Jumper: Essentials crew neck sweater, Tommy Hilfiger (similar). My favourite casual sweater as it feels like velvet.

Jeans: Riders by Lee, with extra stretchy fabric to accommodate my bulky legs without turning into dad jeans. (identical)

Shoes: Some old Fred Perry plimsolls in muted red.

Watch: vintage Vostok Komandirskie manual wind.
